Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your psychotherapy sessions based?

I offer in-person psychotherapy in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, and online psychotherapy across the UK.

What happens in a first session?

I will ask you to tell me a bit about what has brought you to therapy and why now in particular. I will tell you something about how I work and there will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you have about the process.

In the second session I’ll take what is called a full case history, where I’ll enquire about your family background, current life, lifestyle and support network.

By the end of the second session we’ll discuss if we feel we are a good fit for one another. If I feel I am not the right person for you then I’ll come back to you within a week with a list of alternative psychotherapists and/or counsellors based in Leamington spa or online with availability, who think would be a better match.

If we both feel we would work well together then we’ll both commit to working together on a weekly basis.

What areas do you work with?

I work with a range of issues but some areas I have particular experience or training with are listed below:

  • Survivors of sexual violence, rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and domestic violence

  • People struggling with self esteem issues or low self worth

  • Queer / gay / lesbian / gender diverse / LGBTQ+ clients

  • People navigating big life choices and transitions e.g. divorce and break ups, questions around sexuality, new parenthood, empty nests, marriage, career changes, house moves

  • People struggling with compulsive sexual behaviours or who are having an affair or have discovered their partner has had an affair

  • People who feel something is not quite right but can’t put their finger on what it is

  • People repeating unhelpful patterns in their romantic relationships

  • People who have tried a variety of holistic, new age and/or wellness approaches to help them feel better but are still struggling and aren’t quite sure why

If you are unsure whether I work with the issue you are bringing please ask

What is your fee?

I charge £80 per 50 minute session

What is your cancellation policy?

Once we commit to working together, sessions are paid monthly in advance by direct debit. Missed or cancelled sessions are not reimbursed.

Your weekly session time is reserved specifically for you. Keeping a consistent session time and structure is an important part of creating a reliable and containing therapeutic framework, which supports depth and continuity in the work.

Two week breaks in the therapy will be taken at Christmas, Easter and over the summer holidays.
